Khao Lak – Similan liveaboards & mellow inshore wrecks
Khao Lak sits closest to the Similan & Surin Islands, making it the launchpad for most Andaman liveaboards from November to April. Local day trips focus on the Boonsung and Premchai wrecks plus reef combos.Stay in Bang Niang or Nang Thong to be minutes from Thap Lamu Pier. Many shops offer both day boats and multi-day safaris, plus nitrox, tech, and photo support onboard.

- Most liveaboards depart Thap Lamu Pier in the evening; arrange transfers with your shop.
- National park fees for Similan + Surin are collected in cash (approx THB 1,400 for multi-day trips).
- Green-season (May–Oct) liveaboards pause due to monsoon; only inshore wrecks operate weather permitting.
- November–April is the main Similan window, but national-park opening dates and liveaboard schedules should be reconfirmed each season. From May–October, most offshore itineraries pause while some inshore wreck trips run when weather allows. Compare this window with other Thailand diving seasons.
